The U.S astronomer Edwin Hubble, whose name was given to the telescope, was launched into orbit in 1990. Drifting in Earth's orbit for over 16 years, Hubble stopped working and was in need of serious repairs. All the new planets, galaxies and star clusters that we see in high definition resolutions today are all made possible because of Hubble space telescope.
Even though Hubble is the most advanced and expensive equipment in our Earth's nearly circular orbit. No matter what, people still seem to think it was worth every penny. To create Hubble and send it out into its orbit it costs roughly $10billion. Hubble cost NASA a further $1.1billion just for the mission to repair Hubble. Repairs would not be necessary if outer space was not such a hostile place. The low pressure in space makes it impossible for humans to survive; spacesuits are used to stay alive during all space walk missions.
Scientist could not let the telescope go; Hubble was simply a breakthrough in science. The technology used for the telescope is highly advanced; all of the telescope's parts has been made to perfection. The conditions of space will always win until we discover what perfect materials to use, such as tools, nuts and bolts for example.
Hubble is 353 miles above our heads; the telescope takes only 97 minutes to orbit the entire earth. Hubble has opened up a new world and let us look where no man, women or child has ever looked before. Hubble has proved that black hoes exist. Also the telescope unlocked how stars are born and how long before they die. Thanks to the wonders of the Internet, everyone on Earth has access to view Hubble's amazing images. Everyone gets to enjoy Hubble's astonishing discoveries in the blink of an eye.
Space repairs had to take place, in order to keep receiving new, never before seen images from Hubble. Even though one simple little mistake could ruin the whole mission, there still was a chance to fix Hubble and scientists had to take that chance. Thankfully they did and Hubble is backing unearthing new discoveries.

2) Once collected, the light is reflected to a hyperbolic convex mirror.
3) Then finally reflected through a hole in the primary mirror to the eyepiece.
The on Hubble-mirrors were designed to the very highest spec necessary to operate in the UV range, as well as visible light. Hubble uses a combination of gyroscopes and thrusters to maintain and alter its position in orbit.
